How to play Deep Sea Search
- Objective
- Find every object shown at the bottom of the screen before time runs out, make no wrong taps, and pick up treasures and duplicate objects along the way to finish with a higher score than your opponent.
- Setup
- WorldWinner's rules page describes Standard mode as five rounds inside a 5-minute time limit. Round one asks for two objects, round two for three, round three for four, round four for five, and round five for six. When a round's objects are all found, the view moves to a new underwater scene. The scene keeps moving whether or not you are looking, and whales and fish can swim across the view.
- Controls
- Tap or click an object on the sea floor to claim it. On a touch screen, pinch to zoom in and out and drag to pan while zoomed in. Tap treasure chests, barrels, and lobster traps to open them; they may release gold coins or objects, sometimes inside a large blue bubble that must be tapped to collect. Interactive objects can be recognized because they wiggle or release streams of small bubbles. Power-ups are found in the scene and tapped to activate.
- How a game ends
- The game ends when all five rounds are complete or the 5-minute limit expires. WorldWinner states that each wrong selection deducts five seconds from the total time, and that finishing early pays a time bonus based on the percentage of time left.
How Deep Sea Search scoring works
Deep Sea Search is one of the few WorldWinner titles with a fully published scoring table. The values below come from WorldWinner's help center rules page as of the review date. WorldWinner can change them, so check the in-game scoring table for current values.
| Action | Points | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Object found | 200 points | The first claimed copy of each target object. |
| Second copy of the same object | 100 points | Once an object is found, duplicates in the scene can be claimed for smaller amounts. |
| Third copy of the same object | 50 points | |
| Each additional copy | 25 points | |
| Treasure | 50 points | Gold coins and similar pickups, including those released from chests, barrels, and lobster traps. |
| Time bonus (each round) | 500 x percent of time remaining | At least one object must be collected in the round to qualify. |
| Perfect Game bonus | 500 points | Requires no errors and every object collected. |
| Wrong selection | Minus 5 seconds | No points are removed, but the lost time lowers the time bonus and ends any chance of a Perfect Game. |
| XXX Bottle power-up | Points multiplied by 3 | Vision is distorted while it is active. |
| Rusted Clock power-up | Stops time | Protects the time bonus. WorldWinner's launch announcement notes that swimming creatures also stop and can block the view. |
| Diving Goggles power-up | Target objects on screen glow | Helps with hard-to-find objects. The launch announcement warns the glow may also tempt a wrong tap. |
Worked scoring example
Take round one, which asks for two objects. You find both for 200 + 200 = 400 points. You also claim a second copy of one object for 100 and a third copy for 50, and tap two gold coins for 50 each, adding 250. If the round's time bonus is calculated with 80 percent of time remaining, it adds 500 x 0.80 = 400. The round total is 400 + 250 + 400 = 1,050 points. If the XXX Bottle had been active while the two main objects were claimed, those 400 points would have counted as 1,200. Finish all five rounds with no wrong taps and the 500-point Perfect Game bonus is added at the end.
Skill and fairness
Deep Sea Search is a visual search race. The published scoring shows where skill turns into points: 200 per object, a time bonus in every round, and a 500-point bonus for a game with no errors. A player who finds objects quickly and never taps the wrong item collects all three.
The five-second penalty makes guessing expensive. A wrong tap lowers the time bonus for the round, removes time from the overall 5-minute limit, and rules out the Perfect Game bonus. Careful players usually outscore fast but careless ones.
Power-ups involve real trade-offs, which WorldWinner's launch announcement describes. The bottle triples points but warps the view, the clock stops time but also freezes passing sea creatures in place, and the goggles make targets glow but can prompt a hasty tap. Deciding when to trigger each one is part of the game.
WorldWinner matches opponents by a per-game skill rating, describes Head-to-Head play as both players getting identical game conditions, and states that players never face bots. No result is guaranteed, and cash tournaments depend on location, device, and account. Practice games carry no entry fee.
Expert tips for Deep Sea Search
- Scout before opening the bottle. WorldWinner's tips say to scope out the ocean floor before activating the XXX Bottle. Locate the round's objects first, then trigger the bottle and claim them in quick succession so that the 200-point finds are the ones being tripled.
- Never guess. A wrong selection costs 5 seconds and ends the chance of the 500-point Perfect Game bonus. If an item only might be the target, zoom in and confirm before tapping.
- Claim duplicates after the first find. Once an object has been found, extra copies pay 100, then 50, then 25 points each. They are worth taking when they are in plain sight, but not worth a long search, because the round time bonus shrinks while you look.
- Work the transitions. WorldWinner states that objects and treasures can still be picked up while the scene moves between rounds. Coins and interactive containers scattered along the way are 50-point pickups that cost almost no search time.
- Follow the wiggles and bubbles. Interactive objects wiggle or release streams of small bubbles. Chests, barrels, and lobster traps can release coins or even target objects, and anything released inside a large blue bubble has to be tapped again to collect.
- Zoom with a purpose. Pinch to zoom and drag to pan when the floor is crowded, then zoom back out. Staying zoomed in hides most of the scene, and the scene keeps moving while you are not looking at it.
- Use the clock when time pressure builds. The Rusted Clock stops time, which protects the round's time bonus. It is most valuable in the later rounds, where five or six objects have to be found. Be aware that fish and whales stop as well and may cover part of the view.
- Treat the goggles as a finisher. Diving Goggles make target objects on the current screen glow. They are best saved for the last stubborn object of a round instead of being used when several targets are already in view.
- Collect at least one object in every round. WorldWinner states that a round pays its time bonus only if at least one object was collected in it. Even when time is nearly gone, one quick find in the final round keeps that bonus alive.
