How to play BOGGLE
- Objective
- Make words on the letter grid to gain points. WorldWinner's rules give each letter a point value based on Hasbro's SCRABBLE game, so a word's score depends on which letters and bonus tiles it uses, not only on its length. How BOGGLE scoring works

Worked scoring example
WorldWinner's own example: in round 2 a player makes C-A-T on plain tiles and scores 5 points. Later in the same round the player makes C-A-T again with a different C that carries a Double Letter bonus. That version is worth 8 points, and because 5 were already scored, the player receives the 3-point difference. For the length bonus, WorldWinner's example is a 6-letter word: (6 - 4) x 5 = 10 bonus points on top of the letter values.
Skill and fairness
WorldWinner's help center states that all players within the same tournament are provided with the same starting board layout, and that larger formats such as Fixed Prize Unlimited Entry may use different layouts of similar scoring potential. A player who enters the same tournament more than once receives a layout of similar scoring potential.
Because scoring is based on letter values and bonus tiles, the best word is not always the longest. A short word that runs a high-value letter across a Triple Letter tile and ends on a Double or Triple Word tile can outscore a longer word on plain tiles.
The All Letters Bonus rewards coverage. It is worth 100 points in each of the 3 rounds, and WorldWinner's rules note that a small pink dot marks each tile already used in the round, so a player can see which letters are still untouched.
According to WorldWinner, opponents are matched by a per-game skill rating, and WorldWinner states that players never face bots. Word validity is fixed by the NSWL2020 tournament word list, so the dictionary is the same for every entrant.

Expert tips for BOGGLE
- Go after the All Letters Bonus every round. WorldWinner's first scoring tip is the All Letters Bonus: an extra 100 points each round for using all the letters. The pink dot on used tiles works as a checklist, and the last untouched tiles can often be covered with short words.
- Build around bonus tiles in rounds 2 and 3. WorldWinner advises focusing on the Double and Triple word bonus and the Double and Triple letter bonus once they appear. A word tile multiplies the whole word, so it pays to send the highest-value word available through it.
- Put high-value letters on letter bonuses. A Triple Letter tile triples only the letter on it. The gain is small on a 1-point vowel and large on a high-value consonant, so the value printed on the tile matters more than the word's length.
- Use suffixes and prefixes. WorldWinner's tips point to common endings and beginnings such as -er, -ed, -es, re-, de-, ex-, and in-, plus plurals with S. Each variation is a separate valid word built on a path that has already been found.
- Stretch words to 5 letters or more. The length bonus is (letters minus 4) x 5, so a 5-letter word adds 5 points, a 6-letter word adds 10, and a 7-letter word adds 15. The bonus stacks with letter values and bonus tiles.
- Upgrade words already scored. If a word was first made on plain tiles, remaking it in the same round through a bonus tile pays the difference. Words with a repeated letter on the grid, such as two different Cs, are the usual candidates.
- Remember that 2-letter words count. WorldWinner's rules set the minimum at 2 letters. Two-letter NSWL2020 words score little on their own, but they are a fast way to touch the last unused tiles for the 100-point All Letters Bonus.
- Pick one input method and drill it. Dragging submits on release, while tapping needs a second tap on the last letter or the green checkmark. Switching between them mid-game invites mis-submissions, so it helps to practice one method until it is automatic.
